Theft Mode Enabled – How to Disable it on an HP L1710 LCD Monitor

03 Sep

I turned on an HP L1710 LCD monitor only to find that theft mode had been enabled for some reason. The screen goes dim and a message dances around the screen that states that Theft Mode is enabled. Excellent.

To disable this, perform the following:

  • Turn on the monitor and wait for the Theft Mode Enabled message to appear
  • Hold down the “+” and “-” buttons together for 10 seconds or until the message disappears

And there you go – theft mode is disabled. Easy aye?
